Makatete Hills (also called Warembungan Hills) is located in southwest of Manado city around 50 minutes ride from Sam Ratulangi Airport. Visitors could enjoy the view of the city. There are chapel, huge cross and the Immaculate statue in this area. Manado city stretches along the northern coast of Minahasa peninsula. From the distant, we could see the Bunaken, and Manado Tua islands.
The next place that offers beautiful seascape view of Manado is Mount Tumpa. Visitors could the islands of Manado Tua, Bunaken, Siladen and Mantehage islands that are surrounded by the tropical blue sea of the Pacific Ocean. Mount Tumpa is still covered by green vegetation. For visitors who are interested in birdwatching or butterflywatching, they could see Zebra Dove, Sahul Sunbird, Red Jungle Fowl, Sooty-headed Bulbul, Glossy Swiftlet, and etc. For butterflies, there are Gigon Swallowtail, Lime Swallowtail, Blanchard's Wood Nymph and etc. The best time to enjoy sightseeing, birdwatching and butterflywatching is in the morning.

Another interesting site at the outskirts of Manado city is Tunan Waterfall. It can be reached by car for around 20 minutes from Sam Ratulangi Airport. Along the road, tour participants could see various kinds of fruit trees such as langsat, papaya, durian, and coconut that are grown by local villagers. The road to the waterfall is a good site for visitors who are interested in watching birds and butterflies.

Museum of North Sulawesi is a good site for visitors who are interested in the history and cultures of peoples who live or have connections with Minahasa or the Province of North Sulawesi. Walking inside the museum, visitors could see traditional costumes, farm tools, artifacts. There are also old photos and statues of Indonesian political figures whose origin were from North Sulawesi

Traditional Markets are interesting places that visitors can explore. There are a few of them in Manado city. The biggest one is Pasar Bersehati. There is also Pasar 45 and Pasar Karombasan. Walking around the traditional market, we could see various products which local people buy and sell from food materials such as fish, chicken, pork, vegetable and fruits to electronics such as wireless loudspeakers and smartphones.
